Permittivity reconstruction is a difficult task due to the complexity of the electromagnetic model and the ill-posedness of the inverse scattering problems. Assuming that the prior knowledge of the head anatomy is available from other imaging modalities, such as magnetic resonance imaging, we showed that electromagnetic tissue parameters could be accurately estimated even for tissues deeply located in the head. In our implementation of DBIM, we gradually improved the estimation accuracy by initializing more complex models with the results obtained for simpler models.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Short Bio:<\/strong><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"119\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2529\" src=\"https:\/\/www.etran.rs\/2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/marija-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.etran.rs\/2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/marija-231x300.jpg 231w, https:\/\/www.etran.rs\/2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/marija.jpg 275w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/td>\n<td width=\"615\">\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Marija Nikolic Stevanovic\u00a0<\/strong>received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia, in 2000, 2003, and 2007, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree from Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO, USA, in 2011, all in electrical engineering.\u00a0In 2011, she joined the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade as a Teaching Assistant and was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2017. Her research interests include inverse scattering, medical microwave imaging applications, numerical electromagnetics, and antenna design.
